January

Dear humans,

unbelievably I am writing a post on time. This morning I woke up even earlier than usual and I thought "shooot we are already in Frebruary!" and here we are.

Cross-country skiing

This is probably one of the most common activity of trondheim-borgere to do in winter. And since these days it snowed a lot, the conditions are perfect. Just to give you an idea of the amount of Km one can potentially do in one single training session, checkout skisporet. Not only you have the complete ski tracks map but also an almost real time update of the status of those. Really well done! I need to mention that from the city center there is a lovely and quite characteristic wooden tram that can take you to the closest starting point in less than half an hour. Ah: the tracks are all free-to-use, of course.
Last weekend we had an easy 20Km session, with mandatory stop at
Elgsethytta for waffles and hot chocolate.

Ice skating

Probably the second most popular activity is ice skating. All around the city the courts that during spring/summer are open field basketball of soccer fields are covered on ice, and anyone who has a pair of skates can use them. Again, for free. But the best ultimate experience is taking the bus and go to some frozen lake, when conditions permit it. I had the amazing opportunity to skate on Jonsvatnet, one of the biggest and most beautiful just 20 mins out of Trondheim. I cannot describe the feeling of skating on a transparent surface and see the stones on the bottom, it's something incredible! Another lake where we went, smaller, is Theisendammen. This can be reached from the city center with a nice 30m pedestrian walk along side a lovely river. Mostly frozen, during these days.

And that's pretty much it! The rest of my life is basic drone work, I don't want to bother anyone with that :)

Enjoy the winter, stay safe.

Peace.
